Motorists will have a chance to learn how to navigate the new Fairview Drive roundabout and get an update on the project’s opening during a public information meeting Tuesday.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will host “The Roundabout Experience” from 4-6 p.m. July 28 at Daviess County High School. A brief presentation explaining how modern roundabouts work is scheduled for 5 p.m., though attendees may stop by at any time during the open house.
KYTC engineers and transportation professionals will be available throughout the event to answer questions, explain how to safely drive through a roundabout, and discuss the design and safety benefits of the intersection.
Officials will also provide an update on the Fairview Drive roundabout project, including the anticipated opening timeline and what motorists can expect once the intersection opens to traffic.
According to KYTC, modern roundabouts are designed to improve safety by reducing conflict points between vehicles and lowering travel speeds through intersections. They also help keep traffic moving continuously, reducing delays and eliminating the need for traffic signals.
The event is free and open to the public. KYTC encourages residents — whether they are familiar with roundabouts or have never driven through one — to attend and learn more before the Fairview Drive roundabout opens.
