Railey Scott started in the circle, allowing four earned runs over three innings, while Lily Medley pitched the last four innings in relief.
“We had a good approach at the plate from multiple players.”, Owensboro Catholic head coach Jeremy Phelps said. ” We received timely hits throughout the lineup. Scoring six runs in the first inning helped set the tone. “
For the E-Gals, Arianna Ramirez went 3-4 with three RBIs, while Sydney Stallings, Abie Butterworth, and Tyler Hall all drove in runs. Mollie Julian started in the circle, allowing four earned runs. Hancock county 3, Owensboro 1
Ryleigh French threw a compete game, allowing one run over seven innings in the Lady Hornets’ 3-1 win over Owensboro. Audrey Carnes went 2-2, while Bella Bryant and Baylee Estes both drove in runs.
“It was a good win against a good hitting Owensboro team,” Hancock County head coach Dwayne Roe said. “Ryleigh French did a great job keeping their hitters off balance with the changeup and had good command all game. Defensively, we played a great game at all positions, and Jordyn Waltrip made a diving backhand play in the hole at shortstop and threw the girl out from her knees that was as good of a play that I’ve seen since I’ve been coaching. Offensively, Rhineburger did a good job of keeping us off balance, and we were fortunate to scratch 3 runs across and hold on for the win.”
For the Lady Devils, Hessi Johnson went 3-3, while Taylor Sowders finished 1-3 with an RBI. Alyssa Rhineburger threw a complete game, allowing two earned runs over six innings, striking out one.
“Even though we out-hit them, we couldn’t string hits together or get the timely hits we needed,” Owensboro head coach Quincy Moorman said. “Their pitcher did a good job of keeping our girls off balance with her off-speed pitches. We just didn’t barrel the ball up and make the necessary adjustments.”
