Owensboro Health has launched an upgraded text messaging platform aimed at improving communication and helping patients stay more connected to their care. The service, powered by Epic’s Hello World system, is now active across all three Owensboro Health hospitals and every Owensboro Health Medical Group (OHMG) location.

The platform allows patients to receive real-time updates directly via SMS without needing to log into an app. Through the service, users can schedule appointments, manage their MyChart accounts, view and pay bills, receive care reminders, and stay informed about Owensboro Health news and events.

“Texting gives our patients real-time updates without the need to log into an app,” said Wendy Wilson, Director of Information Technology Applications at Owensboro Health. “It’s quick, secure, and makes it easier to manage care.”

A new feature also enables patients to share real-time surgical updates with loved ones, providing additional peace of mind during procedures.

Unlike traditional MyChart notifications, the Hello World messages are sent directly through cellular networks for faster and more consistent delivery, OH officials said.

All users — whether previously enrolled or not — must sign up for the new platform to continue receiving messages. To enroll, patients can text START to 90152.

For more information, visit OwensboroHealth.org/Text. For assistance, call the MyChart Help Desk at 270-691-8700, reply HELP to 90152 for support via text, or text STOP to opt out. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency may vary.
