In a pair of 3rd Region matchups, McLean County beat Daviess County, and Owensboro Catholic took down Hancock County, while Trinity (Whitesville) won at home. In other action, Apollo beat Hopkinsville, while Owensboro fell to Muhlenberg County.

McLean County 4, Daviess County 3

Tied 3-3 entering the bottom of the eighth inning, the Cougars Jax Lee was able to score on an error to walk off Daviess County 4-3. Brooks Lynam and Connor Mitchuson both drove in runs, while Corbin Martin and Hayden Hudson had two of the teams three hits. Hudson allowed two runs over three innings, while Martin and Jaelin Groves pitched the last five innings in relief.

For the Panthers, Lucas Ward, Logan Mewes, and Sean Page all had RBIs, while Gavin Howard and Brett Poole had two of the teams five hits. Ben Watkins started on the mound, allowing two earned runs over 1 2/3 innings, while Parker Wilson, Poole, and Ward all pitched in relief.

Owensboro Catholic 16, Hancock County 1

The Aces scored seven runs in back to back innings to beat Hancock County 16-1. Jude Evans, Brady Atwell, and Parker Heistand combined for six hits and five RBIs, while 13 total players drove in at least one run. Barrett Evans threw two shut innings to start the game, while Lane Hundley pitched in relief.

For the Hornets, Dylan Mucker drove in Porter Hay for the team’s lone run, while Grant Smith went 1-1. Hay started on the mound, allowing two earned runs over 1 1/3 innings, while Dec Lewko, Louden Fluharty, Noah Keown, and Smith all pitched out of the bullpen.

Apollo 11, Hopkinsville 1

Garrett Lanham went 1-3 with three RBIs in the Eagles’ 11-1 win over Hopkinsville. Ty Lillpop, Ryleigh Logan, and Ross Millburn combined for four hits and six RBIs, while Jagger Pate went 1-2 with an RBI. Isaac James gave up one unearned run over 4 2/3 innings, while Lillpop recorded the final out.

Muhlenberg County 3, Owensboro 0

The Red Devils couldn’t capitalize on their scoring opportunities, losing to Muhlenberg County 3-0. Will Rickard, Eli Hampton, Brady Benjamin, and Blake Kimbrell combined for the team’s lone hits, while Ty Ashley walked. Brayden Toler allowed two runs over two innings, while Jaxon Fogle, Trevor DeLacey, Rickard, and Ashley threw a combined five innings in relief, striking out five.

Trinty (Whitesville) 15, Warren Central 5

Connor Hatfield went 3-5 with five RBIs in the Raiders 15-5 win over Warren Central. Kayin Howard and Harrison Barnett combined for five hits and five RBIs, while Grant Howard went 3-4 with an RBI. Grant Howard started on the mound, allowing four earned runs over three innings, while Kayin Howard pitched in relief.
