A Disaster Recovery Center is now open in McLean County to assist Kentuckians recovering from the severe storms, straight-line winds, flooding, landslides and mudslides that struck the region in April.
Located at Calhoun Baptist Church, 315 Main St. in Calhoun, the center offers in-person support from representatives of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Staff are available to explain assistance programs, guide residents through the FEMA application process, and connect them with recovery resources.
The center’s hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 7 p.m. on Sunday. No appointment is necessary.
FEMA officials are urging those impacted by the April storms to apply for federal assistance as soon as possible. The deadline to apply is June 25.
Survivors do not have to visit a recovery center to apply. Applications can also be submitted online at DisasterAssistance.gov, through the FEMA app, or by calling 800-621-3362. Those who use a relay service such as Video Relay Service (VRS) or captioned telephone should provide FEMA with the number for that service.
To apply, residents should be prepared to provide:
- A current phone number
- The address of the damaged property and their current address
- Social Security number
- A general list of damage and losses
- Banking information for direct deposit
- Insurance details, including the policy number or agent name
