The Daviess County Republican Party is aware of a Facebook Post by the Daviess County Democratic Party made on May 18, 2025, that uses the term “8647.” This coded message has been used by radical opponents of President Trump as a call for violence against the President. This phrase made its way into the national news recently when Former FBI Director James Comey used it in an Instagram post.
We condemn the use of this dangerous language in the strongest possible way and call on the local Democratic Party to delete the post and apologize. It is no secret that there have been numerous threats on President Trump’s life, and that the President has endured two assassination attempts.
Civil political discourse should be challenging and, at times, aggressive. However, the use of this particular coded message is irresponsible and in bad taste. We are disappointed that the local Democratic Party leadership would choose to participate in the normalization of such a divisive coded message, especially one that has been used as a call for violence against President Trump by some on the left. It is no surprise that local citizens are fleeing the Democratic Party as their message is consistently one of division, as exhibited by this post.
