It was a busy day for the local Little League teams, highlighted by Daviess County’s 11U and 12U teams winning, as well as Southern’s 12U team.
Daviess County 11U AllStars 2, BG East 11 Yr All Stars 1
Tied 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth, DC’s Liam Daugherty singled to beat BG East 2-1. Isaac Wettstain finished 2-2, while Daugherty was 2-2 with two RBIs. Sam Dever started on the mound, allowing one run over 4 2/3 innings, while Kaden Knott pitched in relief.
Daviess County 12U AllStars 5, WSC 12U Allstars 2
DC scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to beat WSC 5-2. Justin Maxey finished 3-3, while Bryar Stone went 1-2 with two RBIs. Owen Gaynor threw a complete game on the mound, allowing two runs over six innings, striking out five.
BG East 10 Yr All Stars 10, Southern LL 10U All-Stars 1
Southern fell behind early 2-0, and were never able to fully recover, losing to BG East 10-1. Levi Marks scored the team’s lone run courtesy of an Easton Riney groundout, while Jaxon Cernius had the team’s lone hit. Marks, Cernius, Wyatt Booker, Jack Phelan, and Clayton Weis combined to allow 10 runs over six innings, striking out three.
WCSLL 11U All Stars 20, Southern LL 11U All-Stars 7
Southern jumped out to an early 5-1 lead, but were unable to close it out, losing 20-7. Atticus Hicks and David F combined for three hits and four RBIs, while Parker Weis finished 1-1 with an RBI. Haddon Brooks, Ben Marks, and Weis all pitched for Southern.
Southern LL 12U All-Stars 6, BG East 12 Yr All-Stars 1
River Martin and Reece Wells both drove in runs to help Southern beat BG East 6-1. Max Kaufield walked twice, while Levi Hagan finished 2-3. Hagan threw a complete game on the mound, allowing one earned run over six innings, striking out four.
