For nearly three decades, the Owensboro Multicultural Festival has brought people together to celebrate the diverse cultures that shape the fabric of the community. The tradition continues on August 16, as the 27th annual festival returns to the lawn of First Presbyterian Church with global flavors, vibrant performances, and interactive exhibits under this year’s theme: Together We Are A Masterpiece.
The free event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and offers attendees a chance to experience global cultures through music, food, art, dance, and educational exhibits. Organizers say it’s more than just an event — it’s a celebration of unity.
This year’s event will kick off with a joint performance by Owensboro High School and Daviess County High School choirs, followed by the People’s Parade.
More than 50 booths will highlight world cultures and local organizations, and food vendors will serve international cuisine. Attendees can also participate in the festival passport program to engage with exhibitors.
“This year’s theme, Together We Are A Masterpiece, speaks of joining everyone in a glorious masterpiece. Something that we can be proud to call our community,” said Debbie McCoy, chair of the festival committee. “When we join together, we can accomplish much. First Presbyterian Church believes that we are stronger when we create community with people who are different from ourselves. The Multicultural Festival is a way for us to live out that belief.”
The event is organized by First Presbyterian Church and sponsored by Owensboro Health, Thacker Wealth & Retirement – Raymond James, Southern Star Central Pipeline, Boardwalk Pipeline, UniFirst, Atmos Energy, and German American Bank. For more information, visit fpcobky.com.
