The Lady Devils cruised past Evansville Day School 8-1, while Apollo shut out Evansville Day School 2-0.
Apollo 2, Evansville Day School 0
Kinsley Yeiser scored off a free kick and Dalleigh Sullivan assisted Cing Kim to power the E-Gals past Evansville Day School 2-0. The offense dominated possession, finishing with 15 shots on goal, while goalie Becca Jones recorded a 10-save shutout.
“As a team, we are improving. Our defense is young, and this is their first year together,” Apollo head coach Kevin Peveler said. “Our back line consists of three freshmen, two sophomores, and one junior. The improvement from our first game to tonight was pretty good. The players are starting to figure each other out, and it is helping us with our attack. Becca Jones is becoming the glue in the back that gives the other players confidence to play hard and know she is going to be there to help clean up any mistakes. I am very proud of their effort and the work they are putting in to get better. Let me know if you need anything else.”
Owensboro 8, Evansville Day School 1
Lily Neiman scored six goals and Ella Hall add a goal and four assists in the Lady Devils 8-1 win over Evansville Day School in the Daviess County Classic. Bri Chambers finished with one goal and one assist, while Hayley Sikes recorded four saves in goal and dished out one assist.
“We played an offensive game today and we were able to complete plays that we have been working on during the preseason,” Owensboro head coach Sarah Poole said. “They played well considering the heat this morning. We are about to play eight games over the next two weeks, so this was a good start.”
