Whitesville will soon have a new spot for healthy eating and gathering, as local contractor Matt Morris and his niece Brianna Lawrence are preparing to open Whitesville Wellness this fall.
The new venture, located inside Whitesville Mercantile at 9935 West Street, will offer smoothies, supplements, protein shakes, salads, and freshly sliced deli meats and cheeses. Morris said he wanted to create a place that combines healthy eating with a welcoming atmosphere.
“We’re going to offer a salad bar, smoothies, protein snacks, and as many healthy options as we can while keeping it all at Whitesville prices,” Morris said.
The shop will feature both indoor and outdoor seating. Inside, there will be a few tables for dining, while outside will include a deck, artificial turf, lights, and games such as cornhole. Plans also call for a stage for live music, life-size chess and checkers, and other activities.
Morris said his niece, 20-year-old Brianna Lawrence, will be co-owner of the business.
“I wanted to give her the opportunity to own her own business rather than be my employee,” he said. “I have too many obligations in other places, and I figured the best way to have someone treat the business as their own is to give them ownership.”
The shop is expected to open by late September or early October, depending on final approvals from the health department. Morris said they plan to host events like open mic nights featuring live music, all-you-can-eat pizza and salad nights, and outdoor gatherings in a family-friendly environment.
“We want this to be a place where people can come throw some cornhole, listen to music, and get some good food,” he said. “It’s about offering healthier choices, but also about creating another place for the community to come together.”
