Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Kentucky (HPC) has announced the retirement of Chief Executive Officer Brenda Knollenberg and the appointment of Blake Edge as her successor.
Knollenberg joined HPC in 2018 as Charitable Giving Coordinator before becoming CEO in 2020. The Board of Directors praised her tenure as one filled with vision and commitment to the community.
“While we will deeply miss her leadership, we are grateful for the lasting mark she leaves on this organization,” the board said in a release.
Reflecting on her time as CEO, Knollenberg said the role has been a privilege.
“I am so proud of the entire HPC team and how they serve all our patients and families. You couldn’t ask for a better group of people,” Knollenberg said. “Blake Edge will be a wonderful addition to the HPC team as the new CEO. He is a former board chair and has a lot of leadership experience. I have no doubt he will lead HPC to greater success with his strengths and abilities. I am excited for this next chapter of our organization.”
Knollenberg recommended Edge as her successor, noting his experience and leadership within HPC. Edge has served on the Board of Directors and as board president for the past two years.
The board expressed confidence in his ability to guide the organization into the future.
“We could not be more pleased to welcome Blake as our new CEO. His leadership and dedication to HPC’s mission make him an outstanding choice to guide us into the future,” the release read.
Edge said he was honored by the opportunity and looks forward to continuing HPC’s mission.
“I am deeply honored to be selected as the next CEO of Hospice of Western Kentucky,” Edge said. “This organization has a long legacy of providing compassionate, high-quality care, and I look forward to working alongside the board, our dedicated staff, volunteers, and community partners to build on that foundation and expand our impact for the families we serve.”
HPC is a local nonprofit serving patients and families in Daviess, Hancock, Hopkins, and Muhlenberg counties. Its mission is “helping individuals live with dignity through the final stages of life.”
