Owensboro Catholic 3, Owensboro 1

In a five-set thriller, Mayme Powell recorded a team-high 54 assists and added seven digs, seven service aces, and five kills in the Lady Aces’ 3-2 (25-14, 25-16, 18-25, 18-25, 15-10) win over Owensboro. Molly Arnold finished with 25 digs and three service aces, while Ava Martin had 23 kills, eight digs, and two blocks.

“Tonight, the girls fought hard. Catholic is never an easy team to play, especially in their home gym,” Owensboro Head Coach Mitchell Johnson said. “Catholic came out in the first two sets with lots of energy and played a very clean game overall.  During the third and fourth sets, our block was a game-changer.  Our defense stepped up and made a big difference.  We didn’t get the outcome we hoped for, but tonight we fought hard and played like a team.”

Muhlenberg County 3, Trinity (Whitesville) 1

Emmy Edge recorded 29 assists and 21 digs, while Ella Morris had 21 digs, five kills, and two blocks in the Lady Raiders 3-1 (21-25, 23-25, 25-20, 21-25) loss to Muhlenberg County. Gracie Mills added 13 digs and 10 kills, while Laney Mills finished with 25 digs.

“We played well for the night,” Trinity (Whitesville) Head Coach Adam Huff said. “We had opportunities to win each set. As a group, we are still a work in progress, but I am happy with how we are progressing and hope to be winning these close sets soon.”
