YOUTH GOLF
In the final event before the series championships, golfers competed in Santa Claus, Ind., in the GO Junior Series.
Only 28 total golfers were in action, and Owensboro natives had several strong outings. Philpot’s Jesse Holton shot 77 in the Boys 16-18 championship for the lowest 18-hole round of the day.

Owensboro 9, Madisonville 8 (Game 1)

Owensboro (18-8) swept a home doubleheader, beating the Miners 9-8 and 6-4 to stay atop the Ohio Valley League standings. After tying the first game 1-1 in the bottom of the first, the RiverDawgs never trailed again in either contest.
Kirk Liebert hit a two-run homer in the nightcap, finishing the game 2-for-2 with a pair of runs and three RBIs. Ian Ellis doubled and Tanner Singleton scored twice in the win. Starting pitcher Huston Richter picked up the win in 4.2 innings, striking out six and allowing four runs on six hits.
Game one featured a seven-run fifth inning for Owensboro. Bailey Falkenstein had two hits including a double, and he drove in three runs while scoring one. Kyle Hogwood added two doubles, two runs and two RBIs. Ellis got the pitching win, allowing two earned runs on three hits with five strikeouts in 6.0 innings.
