The City of Owensboro will host its annual Hometown Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at 5 p.m. on November 21, with the event kicking off an expanded slate of festive activities planned throughout downtown.

City officials said this year’s Hometown Christmas will feature additional lights and decorations, including several new displays. The Dancing Lights installation will return to the riverfront, with synchronized lights along Veterans Boulevard, the large Christmas tree, and the Owensboro Bridge pulsing to holiday music every 15 minutes.

The light tunnel and the city’s signature Bourbon Barrel Christmas display will also be back in McConnell Plaza.

Several community favorites are returning as well, including the Energy on Ice skating rink on the pier behind the Owensboro Convention Center, Breakfast with Santa, the downtown Holiday Stroll, and the Hot Chocolate Hop.
