A probation check at an Owensboro home led investigators to a full psilocybin mushroom grow operation in the basement, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office said members of the Special Investigations Unit were assisting Kentucky Probation and Parole officers Tuesday during a home visit in the 2400 block of Saint Ann Street when illegal controlled substances were seen inside the residence. Detectives obtained a search warrant through the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and searched the home.
Investigators reported finding an active grow operation in the basement, including spores, seeds, fully grown psilocybin mushrooms, packaging materials, and equipment used to process and distribute the mushrooms. Five boxes of finished psilocybin mushrooms were also located in a child’s bedroom.
All items were seized and logged into evidence. Because of the risks involved in dismantling the setup, a Kentucky State Police hazardous materials unit conducted the cleanup, according to the release.
Three suspects were arrested:
Jacob Allen, 21, of the 2400 block of St. Ann Street
Charges: Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree (hallucinogen), Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Bradley Austin Rone, 41, also of the 2400 block of St. Ann Street
