Simply Momma T’s, a relatively new Owensboro food truck, offers from-scratch comfort food, dye-free treats, and authentic Kona coffee — all made with a focus on fresh, clean ingredients.
Tracy Mayes launched the business in early November, inspired by her love of home cooking and baking. After leaving the school system in 2022, she began making dye-free cotton candy for families with dietary restrictions. That evolved into a full food truck with breakfast, soups, and drinks.
“My business partner Billy and I went to Hawaii after he retired from driving a school bus,” Mayes said. “He tried Kona coffee and said it was the best he’d ever had. That’s when we decided to add Hawaiian shaved coffee to the menu.”
Simply Momma T’s now serves breakfast items like biscuits and homemade sausage gravy, loaded egg and cheese wraps, and warm cinnamon rolls. The truck also rotates lunch and dinner offerings, including chicken noodle soup, vegetable beef, chicken and dumplings, grilled cheese with tomato soup, and more.
Their coffee is shipped directly from a single farm in Hawaii, where it’s planted, harvested, roasted, and packaged — never passing through a warehouse.
“A lot of people are surprised we have real Kona coffee,” Mayes said. “It doesn’t sit on shelves, and it’s incredibly fresh.”
Other popular drink options include clean energy drinks and green teas, with no hidden preservatives or dyes.
The truck is typically parked at the Street Eats lot on Parrish Avenue next to Dollar Tree, though Mayes said they’re also open to setting up at local businesses and events. They plan to continue operating through the winter, depending on the weather.
“We want to be a place where people can get warm, good food that feels like something from Grandma’s house,” she said.
