1885 Cocktail Bar is nearly ready to open its doors in Owensboro. Owner Daniel Keaveney said that the bar is cleared to serve food and will begin a soft opening with friends and family on December 26, followed by plans to open to the public to begin the new year.

The soft launch will feature a limited menu, including a scratch-made chicken noodle soup, potato soup, a beef-and-pork giant meatball, and the bar’s signature Smashburger served with house-made chips.

Keaveney and his wife Maria, partners in the venture, plan to open to the public on January 1 with limited seating. Reservations are strongly encouraged through social media.

“If you don’t have a reservation, we might not be able to get you in,” Keaveney said. “Once my staff is comfortable enough to be done with the soft opening, then you won’t need reservations at all and can just walk right in.”

The cocktail-focused lounge is located at 2601 West Parrish Avenue and will be open Thursday through Monday from 3-11 p.m., remaining closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The 21+ space offers handcrafted drinks, seasonal ingredients, and an upscale, moody atmosphere with a jazz-lounge feel.

Highlights include a “single bottle” program for repeat guests, six beers on tap, a wide selection of craft beer and wine, and non-alcoholic cocktail options. The full food menu will expand after the soft opening and will incorporate locally sourced ingredients, including those from the Owensboro Regional Farmers’ Market.
