A new locally produced radio show focused on veterans, active service members, and their lives after service is set to launch this Saturday on 101.3 KNews.

Titled “Other Side of Service with Basham,” the weekly program will air Saturdays from 7-10 a.m. on the Cromwell Media station. The show will be hosted by Brian Basham, who also hosts the weekday Country Roots Morning Show.

Basham, a U.S. Army veteran who served from 2001 to 2007, has remained an active advocate for the veteran community. In November 2021, he helped launch Veterans Empowered Together (VET), a local support network aimed at helping service members transition into civilian life.

“We talk a lot about service while someone is in uniform,” Basham said. “This show is about the other side. The transition home, the challenges, the victories, and how veterans continue to serve their families and communities in new ways.”

Each episode will feature conversations with local and regional veterans, representatives from veteran service organizations, and community partners. The program also aims to provide listeners with information on available resources in Owensboro and the surrounding tri-state area.

“This is not scripted radio,” Basham said. “It is real people and real conversations. Whether you are a veteran, part of a military family, or someone who wants to better understand the full journey of service, this show is for you.”

Basham said the launch of the program continues 101.3 KNews’ focus on community-based programming that informs and connects local audiences.
