Aces’ Wellman medalist, DC tops local teams for win

Owensboro Catholic’s Jakob Wellman shot a 1-over-par 36 to claim individual honors, while Daviess County earned a narrow team victory in a five-way boys’ golf match at Ben Hawes on Monday.

The Panthers shot 166, just ahead of Owensboro (172) and Catholic (173). Apollo finished fourth with a 205, beating out Hancock County’s 223.

Daviess County’s Dawson Lamb took second place individually with a 38, while Owensboro’s Andrew Chancellor placed third with a 39.

Also scoring for the Panthers were Hunter Smith (41), Brady Huckleberry (43) and Braden Whistle (44).

Owensboro also got scoring rounds from Jack Lashbrook (42), James Rhineburger (44) and Lucas Lyons (47).

After Wellman, Owensboro Catholic’s scorers were JT Payne (42), Noah Johnson (45) and Sam Mitchell (50).

Apollo was led by Tanner Klee (46), followed by Isaac Crabtree (47), Nathan Payne (55) and Aiden Watson (57).

Scoring for Hancock County were Conner Napier (45), Mac Gray (56), Jordan Payne (58) and Isaac White (64).
