SATURDAY’S ACTION:
• DC girls take 1st, boys 3rd in Memphis Twilight Classic
• AHS boys dominate to win Purple Strider Invitational


DC GIRLS TAKE 1ST, BOYS 3RD IN MEMPHIS TWILIGHT CLASSIC
The DC girls claimed first and the boys took third as each team had a runner place in the top 10 in their respective races in the Memphis Twilight Cross Country Classic.

The girls’ team scored 84 points to beat out St. George’s (105). The boys’ team scored 139, behind Huntsville (40) and Bartlett (125).

The Lady Panthers were led by seventh-place finisher Ainsley Taylor (19:53.31), followed closely by Emily Ann Roberts (10th, 20:03.23) and Emily Rempe (11th, 20:08.77). Rounding out the scoring runners were Destiny Miles (23rd, 20:47.19) and Kayley Payne (33rd, 21:17.46).

The boys’ were paced by Brady Terry, who finished in 16:07.57 to place fifth. Other scoring runners were Alex Adams (18th, 16:47.05), Justin Shelton (26th, 17:07.32), Caleb Tidwell )38th, 17:23.05) and Jacob Kirk (52nd, 17:44.24).


AHS BOYS DOMINATE TO WIN PURPLE STRIDER INVITATIONAL
Apollo finished with four runners in the top six and their fifth man placed 11th as the boys’ team easily took first place in the Purple Strider Invitational. The Eagles scored 28 points, while second-place Greenwood scored 75.

Apollo was paced by second-place finisher Thomas Ashby (17:26), though all scoring runners were grouped near the top. Rounding out the top five were Blake Rigdon (4th, 17:42), Nicholas Szemethy (5th, 18:00), Ethan Dych (6th, 18:04) and Jake Alvey (11th, 18:21).
