The Happy Together Tour — a long-running summer package featuring hitmakers from the 1960s and 1970s — will stop at RiverPark Center on Aug. 16.
The concert is scheduled for 6 p.m. and marks the tour’s 17th year on the road. The show will feature a lineup of artists responsible for more than 60 Billboard Top 40 hits.
This year’s tour includes The Association, The Troggs, Jason Scheff (lead singer of Chicago from 1985-2016), Gary Puckett, The Fortunes, Ron Dante of The Archies and The Turtles, The Vogues, and The Cowsills.
The Association rose to prominence in the 1960s with chart-topping songs such as “Cherish,” “Windy,” “Never My Love,” and “Along Comes Mary.”
Making their debut on the Happy Together Tour this year are The Troggs, known for their 1960s hits including “Wild Thing,” “With a Girl Like You,” and “Love Is All Around.” “Wild Thing” later ranked No. 257 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
Scheff, who spent more than three decades as lead singer for the band Chicago, will perform songs associated with the group, including “25 or 6 to 4,” “Just You and Me,” “If You Leave Me Now,” and “Feeling Stronger Every Day.”
Gary Puckett returns to the tour with songs such as “Young Girl,” “Woman, Woman,” “Lady Willpower,” and “Over You.”
The Fortunes, an English group that gained international success in the mid-1960s, are also joining the lineup. Their hits include “You’ve Got Your Troubles,” “Here It Comes Again,” and “Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again.”
Ron Dante — best known as the lead singer of The Archies on the No. 1 hit “Sugar, Sugar” — will also appear. Dante later performed as lead singer of The Turtles and traditionally leads the tour’s finale performance of “Happy Together.”
Also on the bill are The Vogues, known for harmony-driven hits such as “Five O’Clock World,” “You’re the One,” and “Turn Around Look at Me,” and The Cowsills, the family group behind songs including “Hair,” “Indian Lake,” and “The Rain, The Park & Other Things.”
