Junior Achievement of West Kentucky recently concluded its 2026 Miss Business series, a three-part program aimed at inspiring and preparing 8th-grade girls for future success through leadership development, career exploration, and mentorship.

Held throughout March, the series reached students across Daviess, Perry, Hancock, McLean, Henderson, Union, Webster, Muhlenberg, and Ohio counties, creating a broad regional impact.

Organizers said Miss Business is a one-day immersive experience designed specifically for middle school girls, offering a supportive environment to explore career opportunities, build confidence, and develop essential life skills. Participants took part in interactive breakout sessions focused on financial literacy, career exploration, portfolio preparation, and exhibits featuring local businesses, industries, and educational institutions.

A key component of the program is mentorship from the Leading Ladies — professional women from a wide range of industries who shared their time, experiences, and guidance. The Leading Ladies shared insights into their education and career paths while offering encouragement and practical advice. Organizers said the experience helps students envision their own futures while fostering confidence and ambition.

In total, more than 300 students participated in the Miss Business program, supported by approximately 120 volunteer Leading Lady mentors.

The series began in Owensboro, where 150 students from Daviess, Perry, Hancock, and McLean counties joined 50 mentors for a day of hands-on learning. It continued in Henderson, with nearly 100 students from Henderson, Union, and Webster counties alongside 40 mentors. The final event, held in Muhlenberg County, brought together nearly 60 students and 30 mentors from Muhlenberg and Ohio counties.

Organizers said the series was made possible through the support of community partners, educators, and volunteers committed to investing in the next generation of women in business.
