Stepping up to the plate in the bottom of the first with the bases loaded and trailing 1-0, it took Dane Pulliam just two pitches to hand Owensboro the lead – crushing a two-run single to left field. The Red Devils added a third run in the inning and outscored Hancock County 9-1 down the stretch as they won 12-2.

Leading 6-2 entering the fifth, Owensboro blew the game open by scoring six more runs – jump-started by Brody Glenn scoring on Hayden McBride grounding into a fielder’s choice. The Red Devils ended the game via mercy rule after Jordan Quesnell’s two-run double, Ty Ashley’s in-the-park homerun, and Griffin Gaddis scoring on a passed ball.

Ashley and Pulliam both drove in a pair of runs, while Quesnell went 1-2 with two RBIs. He also scored twice and drew a walk. Landon Wink threw a complete game on the mound, allowing one earned run over five innings, striking out seven.

The Hornet’s two runs came on Jack Roberts scoring on a passed ball in the first and Chance Lyday reaching home in the third. Roberts had Hancock County’s lone hit, while Landis Pate walked three times. Mucker started on the mound, while Noah Keown, Kolby Keown, and Pate all pitched in relief.

Owensboro returns to action later tonight when they host Daviess County at 6 p.m., while the Hornets will travel to Breckinridge County on Thursday for a 5:30 p.m. first pitch.
