A sign posted on the front door of Goodwood on the Owensboro riverfront indicates the restaurant has closed permanently.

The sign reads “no tables available permanently closed.”

The Owensboro Times attempted to reach Goodwood Brewing and Spirits for comment last week but did not receive a response. The Times has also contacted the property owner for confirmation.

Goodwood Owensboro opened in July 2023 at 101 Frederica St., offering a full-service restaurant and bar with craft beer, spirits, and a menu of Southern-inspired dishes. The location featured views of the Ohio River and Smothers Park, along with indoor seating and a wraparound patio.

Owned and operated by Goodwood Brewing and Spirits, the Owensboro location was part of a growing regional footprint that included restaurants in Louisville, Lexington, Frankfort, Columbus, and Indianapolis.

The apparent closure comes as the company faces broader financial and legal challenges. According to a report by WDRB in Louisville, Goodwood recently shut down two Louisville taprooms and is dealing with multiple lawsuits from investors, vendors, and landlords alleging unpaid rent, services, and taxes.

The report also indicated the company’s Whiskey Row location is permanently closed, while another location could reopen under new ownership as the company navigates ongoing financial pressures.

The Owensboro restaurant’s closure comes less than three years after it opened. No official reason for the closure has been announced.
