A regional event on May 6 will offer financial assistance to eligible households struggling to pay natural gas bills, with support available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The effort, hosted by Audubon Area Community Services in partnership with Atmos Energy, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at multiple community action agency locations. No appointment is required, though funding is limited.

The blitz is designed to support Atmos Energy residential customers who may have past-due balances, service deposits, or charges, or who have already experienced a natural gas disconnection.

Applicants must be Atmos Energy residential customers with the bill in their name and must bring a photo ID along with a copy of their most recent natural gas bill or account number.

Residents are encouraged to attend the event at their local Audubon Area Community Services office:

  • Daviess County — 1800 W. Fourth St., Owensboro
  • Hancock County — 225 Main Cross St., Hawesville
  • Henderson County — 417 S. Main St., Suite A2, Henderson
  • McLean County — 200 Ky. 81 N., Suite 101, Calhoun
  • Ohio County — 211 Rochester Road, Beaver Dam
  • Union County — 219 N. Court St., Morganfield
  • Webster County — 73 Stegal St., Dixon

Organizers encourage eligible residents to arrive early, as assistance will be provided while funds are available.

“We greatly appreciate Audubon Area Community Services. Atmos Energy could not do these events without their assistance. Our partnership with all the community action agencies in our service area is a cornerstone of our Sharing the Warmth energy assistance program. It is with them; we can help so many people,” said Kay Coomes, manager of public affairs for Atmos Energy.

Audubon Area Community Services CEO Brandon Harley said the initiative highlights the importance of community collaboration in meeting urgent needs.

“Energy costs can be a heavy burden for families, and programs like this provide real relief at a critical time. This blitz reflects what’s possible when strong community partners come together to help neighbors stay safe, warm, and secure,” Harley said.
