With three performances remaining, Theatre Workshop of Owensboro’s production of Our Town continues this weekend, offering audiences a final opportunity to see the classic play centered on everyday life, relationships, and the passage of time.

Directed by Teresa Wills, the play by Thornton Wilder has drawn positive audience response during its run, blending the story’s timeless themes with creative staging elements and heartfelt performances.

“This well-loved classic is brought to life on the Empress stage with exceptional performances from all of Grover Corner’s inhabitants,” audience member Lisa Mingus-Tullis said. “The use of foley sound adds charm and realism; the dulcimer performances add a poignancy that deepens one’s connection to the drama.”

The three-act play follows the lives of Emily and George, along with their families and neighbors in the fictional town of Grover’s Corners, exploring love, marriage, and the passage of time.

“It’s about daily life and the simple things we often overlook,” Wills said previously. “It really points out how we don’t always appreciate the day-to-day moments while we’re living them.”

Wills’ production incorporates live music and a live foley artist to enhance scenes traditionally performed through pantomime, adding depth and realism while maintaining the show’s minimalist style.

“The technical aspects, set design, costumes, and other elements are amazing,” Mingus-Tullis said. “The production is enjoyable from start to finish and reinforces the importance of connections, community, family, life, and cherishing every moment.”

Remaining performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on May 1 and May 2, and 2 p.m. on May 3 at the Empress Theatre.

Tickets can be purchased by visiting theatreworkshop.org/tickets and selecting “Buy Tickets Now,” or by calling the box office at 270-683-5333 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
