In a busy night of baseball, Hancock County and McLean County both emerged victorious, while Apollo, Daviess County, Owensboro, and Trinity (Whitesville) all lost.
Meade County 3, Apollo 2
Trailing 3-1, the Eagles were able to cut the lead to one, but were unable to complete the comeback, losing to Meade County 3-2. Geordyn Stevens and Ty Lillpop both had a pair of hits, and Jagger Pate and Ross Millburn both had RBIs. Millburn threw a complete game on the mound, allowing three earned runs and striking out five over seven innings.
Breckinridge County 4, Daviess County 2
Trailing 3-1 in the fifth, the Panthers cut the lead to one, but were unable to complete the comeback, falling to Breckinridge County 4-2. Weston Lawrence started on the mound, allowing two earned runs over five innings, while Ben Watkins pitched an inning in relief.
Hancock County 15, Webster County 1
Tripp Hager went 2-3 with a homer and three RBIs to power the Hornets past Webster County 15-1. Dylan Mucker and Jacob Shultz combined for six hits and seven RBIs, and Kolby Keown finished 2-4 with two RBIs. Porter Hay was dominant on the mound, giving up one unearned run and striking out nine over five innings.
McLean County 17, South Spencer 14
Trailing 14-13 entering the bottom of the sixth, the Cougars scored four runs to beat South Spencer 17-14. Jayden Taylor, Jaelin Groves, and Layden Bozarth combined for five hits and six RBIs, and Aden Bolden finished 3-5 with an RBI. Corbin Martin started on the mound, allowing four earned runs over three innings, while Reid Gatton, Will Gatton, Jordan Bailey, and Nash Lee all pitched in relief.
Eastern 13, Owensboro 8
The Red Devils gave up seven runs in the top of the third and never fully recovered, losing to Eastern 13-8. Eli Hampton went 1-2 with a solo homer, Ty Ashley finished 3-5 with two RBIs, and Max Morris and Jaxson Fogle both drove in runs. On the mound Jordan Quesnell allowed three earned runs over two innings, while Landon Wink, Dathan Hinton, and Max Kahn all pitched in relief.
Edmonson County 5, Trinity (Whitesville) 4
Trailing 4-2 in the top of the seventh, the Raiders tied the game on a fielder’s choice and a bases-loaded walk, but ended up falling in extra innings to Edmonson County 5-4. Isaac Hernandez went 3-5, and Wade Burch, Cale Boarman, and RJ Cecil all drove in runs. Hernandez threw a complete game on the mound, striking out four and allowing two earned runs over 8 1/3 innings.
