In an important 3rd Region game, McLean County beat Hancock County, while Apollo and Owensboro Catholic both won. In other action, Trinity (Whitesville) lost on the road.
Apollo 4, Breckinridge County 0
Ty Lillpop and Ryleigh Logan combined for seven shutout innings as the Eagles beat Breckinridge County 4-0. At the plate, Logan went 1-4 with two RBIs, and Jagger Pate and Lillpop both drove in runs.
McLean County 14, Hancock County 4
Tied 1-1 entering the fifth, the Cougars’ offense exploded for 11 runs, beating Hancock County 14-4. This marked McLean County’s 23rd win on the season, tying the school record for wins in a season.
Jaelin Groves hit a grand slam, Corbin Martin and Layden Bozarth both drove in a pair of runs, and Jayden Taylor went 2-4 with an RBI. Will Gatton struck out eight and allowed one earned run over five innings, and Bozarth pitched two shutout innings in relief.
For the Hornets, Jack Roberts tripled twice and drove in two runs, Landis Pate walked twice and scored a run, and Porter Hay finished 1-3. Hay gave up one unearned run over 3 2/3 innings, and Dylan Mucker, Colten Severs, and Noah Keown all pitched in relief.
Owensboro Catholic 9, Muhlenberg County 2
Barrett Evans went 1-1 with two RBIs as the Aces beat Muhlenberg County 9-2. Mason Russelburg went 2-2, while Alex Hood, Jake Murphy, Karson White, Drew Miles, and Mason Moser all drove in runs. Cal Murphy started on the mound, striking out five over four shutout innings, and Lucas Patton and Lane Hundley both pitched in relief.
Russellville 13, Trinity (Whitesville) 3
Tied 3-3 entering the bottom of the second, the Raiders allowed three runs and never fully recovered, losing to Russellville 13-3. Grant Howard went 2-3 with two RBIs, and Keaton Abbott and Harrison Barnett both had hits.
