Owensboro Public Schools has selected Lindsey Alvey as its next instructional coordinator for math and science, filling a district leadership role that oversees curriculum and instruction across grade levels.
“I am truly excited to step into this new opportunity to oversee math and science instruction from a district level,” Alvey said. “I’ve enjoyed my time working in elementary education, but this opportunity will allow me to collaborate with teachers from across the district to implement a universal curriculum that best serves our students along their educational journey.”
Alvey brings 15 years of classroom experience to the position, including six years at Country Heights Elementary and nine years in Ohio County Public Schools. She succeeds Dr. Sarah Brown, who was recently named principal of Estes Elementary School.
OPS Superintendent Dr. Wendy Duvall said Alvey’s background in multiple school districts and curriculum implementation made her a strong fit for the role.
“Lindsey comes highly recommended to us from both of the previous districts in which she has worked,” Duvall said. “Her vast knowledge of elementary education and her strategic approach to implementing curriculum in the classroom will allow us to continue the progress we have made over the past several years with our districtwide curriculum.”
Alvey holds degrees and leadership certifications from Western Kentucky University and the University of the Cumberlands and is a National Board Certified Teacher. Alvey will officially step into her new role effective July 1, 2026.
