A 19-year-old motorcyclist died early Saturday following a crash near Philpot, authorities say.
According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, Owensboro-Daviess County Central Dispatch received a report of a single-vehicle injury accident in the 6300 block of Luther Taylor Road at approximately 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
Deputies, along with personnel from Daviess County Fire Department East, Whitesville Fire Department, Thruston Fire Department, and AMR, responded to the scene and found an unresponsive male near a crashed motorcycle.
A preliminary investigation indicates the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Luther Taylor Road when he lost control for unknown reasons and crashed on the roadway before coming to rest in a water-filled ditch, authorities said.
Firefighters and paramedics attempted life-saving measures at the scene before transporting the rider to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, according to DCSO.
The crash remains under investigation by the DCSO Accident Reconstruction Unit.
