Owensboro-based true crime podcast A Couple of Sassholes will celebrate a milestone later this month when it releases its 200th episode, featuring internationally recognized artist Aaron Kizer as a special guest.

The episode premieres at 7 a.m. July 30 and marks five seasons for hosts Brooklyn Johnson and Heather Terry. The pair will explore the true crime story of Eigil Dag Vesti, an art dealer whose life became entangled in one of the art world’s most unusual cases of the 1980s.

Johnson said the hosts wanted the milestone episode to stand apart from the rest of the series.

“We wanted our 200th episode to feel different,” Johnson said. “Aaron has been a longtime friend, and we’ve admired his ability to tell stories through his artwork for years. Inviting him into our world of podcasting felt like the perfect way to celebrate this milestone. Since the case centers around the high-end art world, we knew he’d bring a unique perspective and conversations our listeners haven’t heard before.”

Johnson said Kizer’s perspective led to conversations and questions that made the episode especially memorable.

Terry said she intentionally selected the case because of its twists and setting in the art world.

“I chose this story because it has everything I look for in a case: unexpected twists, larger-than-life characters, and plenty of moments that make you stop and say, ‘Wait … what?’” Terry said. “The fact that it unfolds in the glamorous world of high-end art made it the perfect story for our 200th episode, especially with an incredible artist and friend like Aaron Kizer joining us. But besides all that, there’s still an opportunity to highlight the victim and make sure his story doesn’t get lost in the spectacle, which is something we always try to do on our show.”

Kizer said he was honored to take part in the milestone.

“I’ve known Brooklyn and Heather for a long time, so when they invited me to be part of their 200th episode, it was an easy yes,” Kizer said. “They put a tremendous amount of work into what they do, and it was a lot of fun getting to step into their world for a day. I’m honored they thought of me for such a big milestone, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear the conversation.”

The episode also serves as a preview of another collaboration between the podcast and Kizer. On Oct. 30, Johnson and Terry will emcee Kizer’s live painting event, “I am Drugs Vol. 3,” at the Owensboro Convention Center.

Since launching in 2022, A Couple of Sassholes has released 200 episodes and surpassed 110,000 downloads while building an international audience.

The 200th episode will be available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube and other major podcast platforms beginning July 30. The podcast’s next live show is scheduled for Sept. 27.
