The Homeless Coalition of Ohio Valley will host a community resource fair on Saturday, aiming to connect individuals and families with local organizations offering housing, health care, recovery, and other support services.
The free event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Barrett Fisher parking lot, 1403 West 2nd Street. A free lunch will be provided while supplies last.
According to the coalition, the event is designed to serve individuals experiencing homelessness, those at risk of homelessness, and anyone interested in learning more about resources available in Daviess County.
More than a dozen community organizations are expected to participate, providing information about housing assistance, behavioral health, recovery services, medical care and other programs. Giveaway items also will be available.
Coalition members said the resource fair was created to help people better understand where to turn during times of crisis and to connect them with agencies that can provide assistance.
“The HCOV started this event, now twice a year, to ensure everyone has a chance to educate themselves about the amazing resources our community has and meet the dedicated people providing a hand up,” said Blaine Mathew with the coalition. “We believe that all people deserve the opportunity to find stability and thrive.”
Participating organizations include Welcome House, Owensboro Regional Recovery, St. Benedict’s shelters and services, Daniel Pitino Shelter, Audubon Area Community Care Clinic, Oasis, Volunteers of America, United Way of the Ohio Valley, RiverValley Behavioral Health, Passport by Molina Healthcare, Humana Healthy Horizons, and several other local agencies.
The Homeless Coalition of Ohio Valley meets on the second Wednesday of each month and welcomes anyone interested in supporting its efforts.
