The City of Owensboro read an ordinance Tuesday in regard to their annexation of a property that houses restaurants such as McCallister’s and Moe’s Southwest Grill. This property is located at 2065 East Parrish Avenue.
The property the City wishes to annex sits on 4.5 acres and is owned by SYF Properties, LLC. Commissioners will vote on the property annexation at the next City commission meeting.
City Manager Nate Pagan said there will be an annexation incentive agreement for the property.
This marks the second property annexation the City has proposed in the last month.
City commissioners voted in approval last meeting to annex unincorporated territory in Daviess County that will be home to Cedarhurst Senior Living in the near future. This 7-acre plot of land is located at 1900 Pleasant Valley Road and adjoins the present boundary lines of the City.
In addition to annexing the land, the City of Owensboro approved a municipal order authorizing Mayor Tom Watson to execute a memorandum of agreement with Cedarhurst of Owensboro Real Estate, LLC, stating the City would reimburse Cedarhurst for the cost of construction and maintenance of the property.
That reimbursed amount cannot exceed the total cost of the public facilities, or the total ad valorem, net profits and occupational tax revenues derived from the property — whichever ends up costing more — over an eight-year period.
