The Raiders put up a tough fight Tuesday night, but their season ultimately came to an end with a 64-57 loss to Butler County in the 12th District tournament semifinals.
Trinity (9-22) got off to a quick start, rolling to an 18-12 advantage after the first quarter. The offense struggled in the second period — scoring only two points on a bucket by Denver Dickens — and the Raiders trailed 24-20 at the half.
Each team added 20 points in the third frame, keeping Butler County’s lead at four points heading into the fourth. Trinity wasn’t able to mount a full comeback, and the Bears hit enough free throws down the stretch to stay on top.
For the game, the Raiders went 0-for-5 at the free throw line but hit nine 3-pointers. Butler County went 9-for-19 at the line and hit three treys.
Ethan Howard led Trinity with 18 points, while Kevin Foster hit five 3s to finish with 15 points. Landon Hall scored all nine of his points in the second half, while Dickens hit one bucket in each quarter to finish with eight points. Other scoring came from Landon Huff (3), Elijah Boarman (2) and Will Edge (2).
