The recent shooting on Possum Trot Road is being investigated as a murder-suicide according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
According to reports, the State Medical Examiner’s Office conducted autopsies Tuesday on the bodies of Jacklyn West, 58, and Thomas West, 66, at the Western Kentucky Laboratory in Hanson.
The cause of death for Jacklyn West was determined to be a fatal gunshot wound, and her death is being investigated as a murder by the DCSO.
The cause of death for Thomas West was also determined to be a fatal gunshot wound, and his death is being investigated as a suicide.
According to the reports, the causes of death are consistent with the evidence that was present at the crime scene at the residence on Possum Trot Road. Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident is a murder-suicide with Thomas West being the suspect in Jacklyn West’s death.
At this point the investigation is focused on lab results and processing evidence collected at the scene.
