The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office believes they have narrowed down the type of vehicle involved in a fatal accident on KY 56 Thursday night. DCSO also said the driver may be unaware that a person was the victim of the impact.

In a statement on their Facebook page Friday afternoon, DCSO said they have reason to believe the vehicle involved could be a 2004-2006 Ford Ranger, light in color. The vehicle will have passenger-side front end damage.

“We understand the driver of the vehicle responsible may not, at the time of the accident, have been aware that a person was the victim of the impact,” the statement reads. “With this information coming forward, we encourage the driver to please contact our office.”

The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Kristine Rhineburger of Owensboro.

Anyone with information on the accident or vehicle can contact Detective Jared Spurrier or Sgt. Tyler Free at the Sheriff’s Office by calling 270-685-8444, or remain anonymous through Crime Stoppers by calling 270-687-8484.

DCSO, Owensboro Police Department, Kentucky State Police, Airport-Sorgho Fire Department, Daviess County Fire Department and AMR Ambulance all responded to the incident.
