Detectives have identified a subject as the driver of the vehicle in Thursday’s fatal car accident in which 38-year-old Owensboro resident Kristine Rhineburger was struck and killed on KY 56.
The incident occurred just before 9 p.m. Thursday in the 4900 block of KY 56. Rhineburger was transported by AMR Ambulance to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
Detectives with the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigation Division, interviewed the subject and said he is being completely cooperative.
After consulting with the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, detectives are confident they have located the vehicle and person that were involved in the accident. Detectives will meet with prosecutors next week to determine whether or not to bring this case to the next session of the Grand Jury.
At this time, the investigation is ongoing.
“The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the citizens of Daviess County for all information forwarded to this agency. Our sincere condolences are offered to the family of the deceased,” a Friday night statement from DCSO reads.
