The Daviess County Public Library’s annual summer reading program for all ages begins Friday and runs through the end of July.

Participants can log in to their existing accounts or create new ones by visiting this website or by downloading the Beanstack Tracker App on their mobile device.

Readers will record minutes on the Beanstack site/app or on a log sheet. Prizes will be awarded to all participants who complete 10 hours of reading. Children age 12 and younger will also receive a prize book after reading five hours. For each hour spent reading, the participant’s name will be entered into a grand prize drawing.

At the end of the program, the participant in each age category with the most reading minutes will get a special prize. Age categories include ages 0-5, 6-8, 9-12, teens, and adults.

“With so many people already at home reading as a way to pass the time, we felt this would be a great opportunity to start the program early and provide people with an opportunity to log hours and be eligible to win great prizes,” said Shannon Sandefur, public services manager.

Last year’s summer reading program had 2,433 registered participants (1,856 children, 94 teens, and 483 adults). Together, all participants logged 903,435 minutes. The library hopes to exceed those numbers this year.
