Six Owesboro High School students were chosen for the 2020 Governor’s Scholars Program, while two students were selected for the Govenor’s School for the Arts.

Avery Elliott, Kaysia Harrington, Bonnie Olsen, Keaton Gilmore and Kyle Reese were selected for GSP, while Tamia Smith was named an alternate for the program.

Ella Bartholomy was selected for the 2020 class of the Governor’s School for the Arts for Visual Art. Emma North was selected as an alternate for GSA in Vocal Music.

GSP traditionally is a five-week, residential summer program for Kentucky’s most outstanding students after they complete their junior year of high school. This program provides academic and leadership growth in a challenging, non-traditional experience that balances a liberal arts program with a full co-curricular and residential life experience.

GSA auditions and reviews the Commonwealth’s most promising high school sophomores and juniors in nine different arts disciplines: Architecture + Design, Creative Writing, Dance, Drama, Film + Photography, Instrumental Music, Musical Theatre, Visual Art, and Vocal Music.

Plans for the 2020 program are currently proceeding as normal but may be modified in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
