The Brescia men’s basketball team, led by head coach Brian Skortz, has announced the hiring of Benjamin Kluzak as head junior varsity/assistant coach for the Bearcats.
Kluzak comes to Brescia University from Rock Valley College in Rockford, Ill. He started his coaching career as a student assistant under the direction of Craig Doty, who guided the Golden Eagles in winning two national championships as they appeared in three straight NJCAA Division III title games.
Kluzak continued his education and coaching career following Doty to Graceland University, an NAIA school in Iowa. There, he was part of the coaching staff to win the NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball National Championship in 2018.
After graduating from Graceland, Kluzak went back to Rock Valley College as an assistant coach for the 2019-20 season.
“I am extremely excited to add Coach Kluzak to the staff,” Skortz said. “He brings a wealth of experience around some very good programs. He will serve as our lead assistant and head coach of our JV/Varsity reserve program as well. He is very passionate and is driven to see our student-athletes succeed both in the classroom and on the hardwood. We look forward to great things from coach Kluzak.”
