The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is on the lookout for a man who allegedly attempted to murder his ex-girlfriend Monday morning.
An arrest warrant has been issued for David W. Conder, 44, of Owensboro, on charges of attempted murder, first-degree strangulation and second-degree criminal mischief.
The incident occurred early Monday morning in the 6800 block of Leslie Lane, according to Chief Deputy Major Barry Smith. DCSO received a call regarding a domestic disturbance at 5:50 a.m. Deputies spoke to a woman who said she’d been assaulted by Conder after they had ended their relationship.
“The boyfriend and girlfriend had lived there together at one point, and they had just separated in the last day or so,” Smith said. “He came back and kicked the door in, then he assaulted her.”
The woman told officers that Conder tried to stab her with a butcher knife. After the victim took refuge in the bathroom, Conder allegedly kicked that door and told the woman she would not be leaving the residence.
The woman was able to escape out a back door, Smith said. She ran to a neighbor’s home and called 911. Smith said the woman sustained minor injuries during the incident, but that she was not taken to the hospital.
Conder has not been found but has a warrant out for his arrest.
