Daviess County 77, Breckinridge County 40

The Daviess County Panthers took control early and never let up as they cruised to a season-opening victory over Breckinridge County Tuesday at DC.

Three Panthers finished in double digits as they took down the Tigers 77-40.

DC led 16-10 after the first and then scored at least 20 points in each of the final three frames. The Panthers outrebounded Breck 41-24 after they grabbed 33 defensive rebounds.

Cameron Johnson (18 points, 7 rebounds), Max Dees (14 points, 4 rebounds) and Cole Burch (13 points) led the Panthers in the victory.

Daviess County (1-0) plays at Cloverport Thursday before returning home to take on Ohio County on Friday.

Ohio County 63, Grayson County 40

The Ohio County Eagles cruised by Grayson County Tuesday for their first win of the season.

OC used a big second half to put the Cougars away in the 63-40 victory for the Eagles.

QDaryius Jennings led the Eagles with 16 points while Chandler McCrady also added 16 points for Grayson County in the loss.

Ohio County’s Elijah Decker (11 points) and Josh Manning (10 points) also finished in double digits for the Eagles.

The Eagles play Friday at Daviess County while Grayson plays Thursday at home against Breckinridge County.

South Warren 55, Owensboro 40

The Owensboro Lady Devils held a lead early Tuesday against South Warren but the visitor turned it up in the second half to get the victory at OHS.

The Lady Spartans took down Owensboro 55-40 to start the Lady Devils’ season with a loss.

The Lady Devils held a 30-27 lead at the break but South Warren turned up the offense in the second half to win by double digits.

Lyric Lawrence led OHS with 11 points while Tamia Smith also finished in double digits with 10 points.

OHS hits the road as it takes on Todd County Center Friday then heads to Ohio County Monday to take on the Lady Eagles.
