After softball fields around the country were quiet last season, teams are ready to gear up and hit the diamond as area coached picked Daviess County to win the 3rd Region in the annual preseason coaches poll.
Owensboro Catholic was picked second while Meade County, Hancock County and Muhlenberg County round out the top five. Apollo and Butler County also received votes.
DC’s Abby Newman was chosen the Preseason Player of the Year while her Lady Panther teammate Millie Roberts and Owensboro Catholic’s Hadley Phelps tied for second.
Meade County’s Mary Morgan was selected fourth with there being a tie for fifth. Catholic’s Camille Conkright, Hancock’s Haley McFarling and Muhlenberg’s Emma Rose all tied for fifth.
Hancock’s Braley Roberts, Butler’s Aliceson Hunt and Catholic’s Hannah Carter also received votes.
