OPD: Teen struck by vehicle on Friday transferred to Louisville hospital

A 13-year-old pedestrian struck by a vehicle in Owensboro on Friday has been transferred to a Louisville hospital for further treatment, according to the Owensboro Police  Department. The incident is still under investigation.

According to reports, OPS responded at approximately 1:16 p.m. Friday to a traffic collision where a vehicle struck a pedestrian at Carter Road and the Wendell H. Ford Expressway (commonly referred to as the bypass). The 13-year-old pedestrian was walking Northbound on Carter Road and crossed the eastbound on-ramp when she was struck by a vehicle.  

According to OPD, the pedestrian was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries before being transferred to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville for further treatment.  

Members of the Owensboro Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team  responded and are investigating the collision.
