Owensboro 8th grader Georgia Warren went into Wednesday’s Region 2 Dive Meet fresh off of her second-straight City/County Championship and the Lady Devil continued her winning ways at Owensboro Health Healthpark.

Warren finished with a score of 295.60 to take down Bowling Green Molly Morton for the regional crown.

Warren admitted she had some butterflies going into Wednesday.

“I was nervous walking in but once warmups started and I was talking to the other teams I started to calm down,” she said.

Even though she had recently won City/City at the same pool, Warren said her confidence level wasn’t as high as she would have liked and she wasn’t sure she could win.

“I did not believe it at first,” she said of when she won. “I thought I was going to get third at least.

Warren now looks to the state meet and even though she’s the only local in the meet, she doesn’t feel like phoning it in as she’s already got something in the works.

“I am going to work on consistency and I would really like to learn a new dive,” she said was her goal.
