Atmos Energy and Kenergy reported experiencing outages due to the severe weather last night, while OMU did not experience any power outages in Daviess County.
Public Relations and Communications Manager Sonya Dixon said during the storm OMU did have power outages, though their website showed there were some phone issues.
“We were at the ready throughout the day and night, closely monitoring alerts and warnings,” Dixon said.
At one point in the night, Kenergy reported having 2,917 outages in Daviess County and 3,515 in Ohio County.
This morning, officials said they had 2,194 members without power with 2,000 being in Ohio County.
“We are working with Big Rivers Electric to get restoration on the two substations in Ohio County that suffered damage from the tornado,” a post on Kenergy’s Facebook said. “All available crews are out working to restore power to our members.”
Atmos officials said they are currently evaluating the impact of the storms and making the area safe and outage areas will be restored as soon as possible.
Updates from Atmos will be sent as needed.
