Larry Maglinger, a current Owensboro City Commissioner and Mayor Pro Tem, has filed for reelection and hopes to continue with the leadership he has started already.
Should he be reelected, Maglinger said he hopes to provide the leadership needed to keep Owensboro growing and a safe place to live, work and raise a family.
In his most recent campaign, he mentioned a passion to start the revitalization of Owensboro’s west side along with getting businesses in town to invest within the community.
He said both initiatives are well underway, with $1.3 million in local federal and private funding dedicated to the Northwest Revitalization Plans and over $75 million in investment from businesses resulting in over 250 new jobs.
“That’s a couple of things that I’ve really worked hard on [to get accomplished],” Maglinger said.
He also noted that during the pandemic, the City was able to provide $1.5 million through COVID-19 assistance funds, rental assistance for 326 residents, and small business grants for more 100 businesses.
Maglinger said he hopes to retain his seat so he can see continued progress on the projects he’s helped put in motion.
“We’ve got some things we’re working on that are going to carry on into the next term,” Maglinger said. “There’s a lot of things coming, that are in the works.”
