PorchFest has announced their lineup for the 2019 concert, set for June 8.

The free, one-day, open-air music festival brought an estimated 2,000 people to an over half-mile stretch of Griffith Avenue last year. Residents along Griffith Avenue offered their residences to host the concert in a one-of-a-kind community music experience, as homeowners transformed their front porches into performance stages for local artists.

PorchFest creators, Andy Brasher and Tamarra Miller, have announced 45 acts have signed up to perform at this year’s event, more than double last year’s lineup. During last year’s inaugural event, eight porches featured music. Brasher and Miller announced today that fifteen porches will host musicians and bands.

When Brasher and Miller began developing PorchFest in 2018, they anticipated a turnout of 400-500 people in order to count it a success. They were pleasantly surprised when thousands of all ages filled the street. Somehow, Brasher says, within a half-mile of porches, and over 2,000 people, they were able to maintain a “hometowny” feel.

With the anticipation of many more visitors this year, they said it was important to maintain that welcoming environment. Brasher and Miller plan to increase the number of food trucks and portable restrooms available, as well as work with the City of Owensboro event director in closing off a portion of the street to ensure visitors’ safety.
