ROMP Festival is returning in 2021, though it will be later in the year than normal. The music festival is scheduled for Sept. 15-18 at Yellow Creek Park in Owensboro.

This marks the 18th year for ROMP, which is produced by the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum.

Ticket buyers who chose to roll over their 2020 purchase to 2021 need not take any action because previous ticket purchases apply to this year’s festival.

Artist lineup and ticket information will be announced soon. Stay up to date on the latest information at rompfest.com and the ROMP Facebook page.

Typically held in the summer, festival organizers decided to move this year’s event from June to September “as the vaccine rollout reaches more people, and active (coronavirus) cases continue to trend downward.”

Organizers will continue to seek guidance making any modifications necessary to ensure the health and safety of attendees, artists, volunteers, vendors, and staff.

“The health and safety of everyone who engages with ROMP Festival is our top priority,” said Hall of Fame Executive Director Chris Joslin. “Based on input from public health officials, we feel confident moving forward with a fall date incorporating several logistics and operational changes to maximize the experience while minimizing the risk.”

Mark Calitri, President and CEO of Visit Owensboro, said he’s pleased the signature event could return.

“As the bluegrass music capital of the world, Owensboro is a destination for bluegrass music, and ROMP Festival is the gateway for a lot of people who want to experience bluegrass,” he said. “Working together, our community can play host to people from around the country and do so in a safe manner. The return of events like this signal a return to normal.”
