For the first time in almost two years, PorchFest OBKY 2021 returns with more than 30 performers on June 12.

The free outdoor music festival will stretch down lawns and porches on Griffith Avenue starting at 3 p.m. Some acts include the Andy Brasher Band, Josh Merritt, Hayley Payne, and Ariel and the Highwheels.

The weekend kicks off with a pre-party at Brew Bridge on June 11. At the pre-party, you can hear live music from the Cain Sisters and Friends starting at 7 p.m.

PorchFest was co-founded in 2018 by Andy Brasher and Tamarra Miller and about 2,000 people attended. In 2019, they drew roughly 5,000 people despite the rain. Due to the pandemic, the 2020 show was canceled and they plan to “get back to some sense of normalcy” with this year’s festival.

Miller said people should come and enjoy the free and family friendly environment and enjoy live music you might not have heard before.

Even though Gov. Andy Beshear will be lifting the mask mandate on June 11, Miller said they will still be sanitizing and cleaning to help prevent COVID-19.

Since the 2020 festival was planned out right before it was canceled, Miller said many aspects were able to be carried over into this year and she is thankful for the success in the event’s third year.

She said this event is possible because of sponsors like Independence Bank, Greenwell Chisholm and a list of others on their website.
